The event is to be held on around 1400 acres of arable land in the beautiful Cotswolds, near the Historic Medieval Market town of Burford in Oxfordshire.
The site conditions should be a mix of lightly cultivated ground and / or short wheat & barley stubble spread over more than 20 fields.
Some of the fields in the area and some of those for the event have been searched previously and have produced a variety of finds dating from the bronze age through to more modern finds.
THERE WILL BE NEW LAND TO SEARCH BOTH SATURDAY & SUNDAY
Some of the more memorable finds from the area have included a small hoard of gold stators, large Anglo saxon cruciform brooch and a few Anglo saxon coins and artefacts.
Roman finds have been plentiful with some stunning Roman brooches being found as well as large numbers of Roman bronze coins and the odd few silvers among other things.
Medieval hammered coins and artefacts have also been found in some fields locally and in good numbers.
There is a Bronze Age Burial Mound which is a scheduled ancient monument on the edge of our search area (This is strictly out-of-bounds)
